Galen, the privately-owned pharmaceutical sales and marketing company is pleased to announce that applications are now open for the Dr John Hinds Scholarship Award 2024. This prestigious scholarship, now in its fifth year, is dedicated to supporting pre-hospital responders on the Island of Ireland.

The scholarship, which runs in association with The College of Paramedics, is presented in memory of the late Dr John Hinds, who was regarded as an inspirational leader by paramedics and emergency medical technicians and those in pre-hospital care within Ireland. A world-renowned critical care physician, Dr Hinds gave a huge amount of his own time to educating and supporting paramedics and ambulance staff throughout the Island of Ireland.

Applicants have the opportunity to win a fully funded place on the renowned Advanced Trauma and Critical Care (ATACC) three-day course in the UK, which is internationally recognised as the most advanced trauma course currently available in the world. The winner will also have their case study published in the College of Paramedics’ magazine, 'Paramedic INSIGHT'.

Applications for the scholarship are open from 1^st November 2023 – 12^th February 2024, and we invite pre-hospital responders to apply by submitting a Clinical Case Study of an incident they attended. The College Honours and Awards Committee will then select the winning piece with the awards ceremony taking place at the College of Paramedics National Conference on 22^nd May 2024.
